Red Harris Tweed Keepsake Miniature Cottage Scottish Bothy, Handmade in Scotland
Beautiful unique cottage modelled after a highland Scottish bothy, handmade by me in Fife, Scotland, I have also used genuine Harris Tweed fabric for the roof which is handwoven by weavers in the Outer Hebrides.
These bothies are simple shelters found in remote areas of Scotland, originally used by shepherds and other workers needing temporary accommodation in the Highlands. The name originates from the Gaelic word "bothan" for hut, and they date back to the 18th and 19th centuries. Many were built during the Highland Clearances when workers needed basic shelters while working on the land.
Today, bothies are cherished for their minimalist and communal nature and are often used by hikers and climbers visiting Scotland.
This gorgeous little bothy would make the perfect housewarming gift or the ideal item to bring a little piece of Scotland into your home.
